scotish producer boom merchant has been djing and making music for more than years next up from him is a futuristic warehouse inspired 4-tracker on resopal. on -this is ...,- he offers up a bass-driven house number that hints at it’s chicago roots while pushing forward into garage territory. on „warm haze „he delivers his most straight-up, heads-down house production to date. next up is the quirky -warehouse,- which twists into a moody, convergence while rise is pure reduced techno.

andreas gehm is known for his fierce, unapologetic acid style. but the cologne man does have a more mellow side, a smoother side, and that s what this three tracker is. of course, smooth gehm still has some rough edges. -yellow flowers- combines thick pads, skittering beats, warming samples and frigid bars in an intoxicating brew. malice and menace rear their ashen faces for the evil machinations of -late at night-, muffled vocals and sharpened snares glinting in the streetlights. safety arrives in the form of the aptly titled -less violence.- rhythms are still rough edged, melodies still have an underhanded element. yet there is a subdued humanity in the sweetened strings, emotion coming to a head as the needle runs out.

firstly, a huge thanks to everyone for supporting us so far - 2016 has seen the dext label continuing to go from strength to strength, with our callahan and mella dee ep s backed with remixes from hodge and endian which have been been super well received. now for the third ep of the year from our resident comedian bodyjack. bodyjack has been an integral part of dext since he remixed dubspeeka on our 2nd release and headlined our label takeover of privilege in ibiza last summer. we are very excited about his return to the label with this 3-tracker (and our first full solo artist ep!), and we think you re going to dig this... the title track cobra effect is one of those tracks you aren t going forget in a hurry. intense and brooding, we are hard-pushed to categorise this, but layers of sinister bass coupled with dark, driving snares and eerie synth work culminate masterfully, making this the perfect dext track. hydra effect lifts the vibe with a straight up peak-time house jam with a sting in the tail. a raw-but-infectious bassline winds along under bodyjack s signature killer drum programming, before blasting off with something you aren t going to expect. rounding the ep off is slowine effect: a proper dancehall workout (reminiscent of bodyjack s earlier work) and a real cross-genre party starter. the most upbeat of the 3 tracks, this again takes all the elements of what we love about the music from the past and cleverly works them into something special for the rave. and that s not all for bodyjack on dext this year - he will be back with a one-off ltd record called -hot shot-, backed with a very special remixer...but more on that soon!

hungarian imprint farbwechsel has built up a varied and interesting discography over its 4 years of existence. this limited edition cassette from bouchons d orelles deviates slightly from the label s normal aesthetic, taking a more industrial/drone route with the original tracks. the remixes are also a fantastic and well thought-out edition to the release, with the s.olbricht remix standing out.

strength lies in calmness – and vice versa. marcel fengler returns on imf and offers three new inspirited musical pieces that protrude from the club context just as well as cater for your home stereo, picking up on the diverse musical moods defined by his debut album fokus (ostgut ton, 2013) while concentrating on intertwining sound aesthetics. with “kyu” laid out on the a-side, this new 12- starts off with a delicate yet muscular floor-pleaser – its subtle 4/4 rhythm is counteracted by lush claps on 2/4, but the true finesse comes in form of its varying rhythmic details, crisp hi-hats and underlying, subtle melodies, most notably the twirling organ trills, sustained synth pads and alienated shout outs. “shitau” on b1 picks up on these introverted and adoring musical moods with more organic bell percussion and swelling synth layers adding a more cinematic touch to the complex rhythm patterns—then pausing for a short dreamy break, gaining speed again before culminating in a grand finale. “zen” follows up with intimate string arrangements until fengler varies the tone and tempo with tribalist percussion and a lush kick drum. this ep is an ideal companion, whether you re pruning your bonsai or branching out a club set.

berlins cult techno duo exercise one release their newest 12inch featuring 3 tracks. one track reminiscent of the past, one track gazing at the future and a time defying remix by locked groove.timetrap has always been the dark horse of exercise ones back catalog, so they decided to go back to the original idea of the track and see where they could take it. a few sessions later their ears were happy and timetrap 2016 was born. the staccato groove and eerie hook of the original now live in a much more powerful and demanding surrounding. exactly what they where looking for.

jeremiah r has been responsible for some of the finest electro to be released over the past few years, with his mini albums for tabernacle records being particularly potent. here he launches the distant wave label with eight more chunks of atmospheric, far-sighted futurism. as usual, he flits between ambient style interludes and more expansive dancefloor fare. in the latter category you ll find the motor city techno futurism of -bermuda triangle-, the glistening idm loveliness of -streaming to arcadia-, the larry heard-in-space deepness of -cruiser-, and the drexciyan throb of -jar (jamming avoidance response)-. all are, naturally, both luscious and pleasingly melodious, whilst retaining an intergalactic sense of atmosphere.

greg belson s divine disco is a snapshot in time encapsulating the raw power of a spiritual performance, set to the pulsating 4/4 rhythms that were in vogue with the dance floors of the day. tip! labels like savoy played a key part in identifying artists that fit nicely into this brand new style with performers like shirley finney and the gospelaires, both of whom were established within the scene, but carried the disco torch brightly with their tunes featured here. divine disco also paints a picture of the lesser known acts that privately released their message to the hopeful masses, such as the gospel ambassadors and the inspirational souls, whose recording budgets would have been significantly less than any major label.

we have become big fans of paul ursin at the noir music headquarter as he just keeps creating fantastic music from his studio in sicily. he gained lots of heavyweight dj support from his ep on nm2 in may and we expect him to take you by storm with this (his first) release on noir music. if mr. ursin is not already on your radar let this “sinthesis vol.1” convince you. no more words ... let the music speak for itself.

rediscovered 80’s british acid house gem ‘cortina kidz’ recently made a serious impact on andy butler’s mr. intl with remixes from factory floor and juan maclean & tim sweeney. hot on the heels, moscow’s lipelis’ steps in to remix with striking results. pitchfork enthused of the recent reissue being “a chilly acid-house track operating the influence of both soft cell and the specials,’ xlr8r as “drenched in dark and sleazy overtones, the track encapsulates a downtrodden time in london”, while ransom note noted “cortina kidz is more than just an old skool oddity- it s a banger that s stood the test of time”. originally recorded on london’s stoke newington road in 1987, produced by a young tim brinkhurst ahead of his imminent record deal with virgin records with his band soho, and long before his current role as manager of mercury prize winners, young fathers, ‘cortina kidz’ remained undiscovered and the eccentric spoken word overlay and weird lead vocal made it very unlike the prevailing dance music sound of the time. leonid lipelis explains that “since it’s a reissue of a relatively unknown record it gave me a certain freedom of expression (when it’s something well known and classic you re likely to produce something more serious). i came up with more of a pop song, structured with a vocoder for the main version and had fun playing with vocal samples for the dub mix, paying homage to the 80s sound in both.- lipelis’ recent release on lies records has gained him support from four tet to dimitri from paris. he also runs a side project for hardware jams called tmo and co-runs low budget family records.

(includes high-quality download in mp3, flac and more) the drain dissects in grandeur the human void, for which only codeine is the appropriate remedy. we are lucky that ignatz version of the great void is soothingly synonymous with the essence.

redredred from muenster (germany) is coming to tell a story with his debut ep. shifts between deep rough techno tracks, warm house tunes and ambient pieces like a master. still, other musical influences are present as well. significant here is his distinct sound design. constantly revealing new elements almost like a nightly walk through an empty city under a foggy blanket. this ep is more than a travel companion as it delivers tracks that are definitely suitable for a club.

with the new sublabel ourselves established under the roof of the well-known o*rs crew from leipzig, a new label has been launched which can without a doubt be called a matter of the heart. production, graphic design, promotional shipping, in leipzig truly every single step remains within the family. with the now appearing compilation imagination the newly born baby ourselves directly presents itself in the best possible light. kicking off the sampler is düsseldorf-based artist sello. the house track characterized by its analog drums, deep chords and snotty bassline completely places his bet on deepness. in his very own catchy way, it sure is the perfect entrance into the musical debut. the second track of the release, a collaboration of jan ketel and his partner in crime siggatunez, shines through its very dynamic and driving buildup. the title being a graceful tribute, it carries the name of the eponymous berlin club farbfernseher. nevertheless, such a warm and dreamy house track might as well serve as the perfect commendation for the first open airs of spring. the flipside impresses with a ruff and dirty club track by berlin-based producer braunbeck, which self-ironically manifests itself particularly through the self-recorded vocals. as a true humorous banger, the track adds even more musical depth to the already outstanding release. the completion of the compilation and therefor also the most technoid track of the release is contributed by perel. a tool-like classic, standing out through its massive kick and hi-hat called felene hischer. nasty, groovy and timeless, just how we like it!

the berlin-based producer is kicking off his label with a four-track single. while he is perhaps not as name-checked as some of the hardware hawking house heads of modern times, arttu snellman has been working hard at gritty box jams for a good few years now. he first appeared under his arttu guise in 2011 with the nuclear funk and fear diluted singles on royal oak and philpot respectively, and then proceeded to wheel out tunes for 4 lux and chiwax over the ensuing years. prior to the tough-edged pump of his current ventures, you could find snellman indulging in a more laptop-centric kind of practice under the name lump. this more minimalistic, glitchy house fodder could be found on labels such as karloff, morris/audio and süd electronic amongst many others. back in the here and now though, arttu was last spotted on clone jack for daze earlier this year with the rave dogz 12”, and next up he’s taking matters into his own hands. existing fans of arttu will be more than pleased with the heavyweight, crunchy tackle that inhabits cyblo01. this is dynamic business with same heft found on previous releases from snellman, mixed in with the cheeky flair that has always marked his productions out in a crowded marketplace.

transatlantyk return with a double header informed by the dark continent label regular universo (architect of their best ep no less) cooks up a splendid slice of culturally appropriated, campfire heat. its graceland era paul simon fed through some expertly assembled 21st century software. on the flip ryan r (reynolds maybe?) offers up umqondo. as western polands answer to awesome tapes from africa, we d say he knows from whence he takes. its a groove so thick even dr livingstone would have trouble hacking through it, an immersive ride though to be sure, and one which will make infinitely more sense at 4am sunday morning than it does at midday on a tuesday.

birdsmakingmachine are back on track and continuing their series in style with bmm 007. kicking off things on a1, at 124 bpm, “the draft” is a joyful number that bursts with relentless energy while managing to fuse sharp metallic drum patterns with juggling ambient hooks. the more dancefloor-oriented track is nevertheless found on a2. as the title suggests, “area 52” is quite literally a journey through the unknown and mysterious, a metaphor for the deep minimal house amazon, a track that stands out with an extra subby bassline, swinging hihats and those ever-so-warm sequenced analog pads in the background. flip the record over and you find yourself with two slightly more industrial affairs, “the voice of kudha” on b1 offering a breakier alternative than it’s predecessors and “zagonity”, on b2, galloping its way to close off the record with shuffling vocal hits and an amalgamation of bouncing hats and snares.

und, mor elian is a relatively new name on the block, but her deft tastes have seen her share the stage with the likes of kerri chandler, mike dunn, seven davis jnr, dj qu and many more, and most recently, releasing her debut vinyl release on the excellent prime numbers label, featuring fxhes ob ignitt on remix duties. on drum vortex, mor strikes a killer release for hypercolour, enlisting two big remixes on the release from joey anderson and markus suckut. on her original mix, drum vortex rolls out a ricocheting drum workout that indeed goes through the vortex, otherworldly voices and cosmic drones sit in the middle of the mix whilst the rides and hats intensify. joey anderson has proven himself as one of the most diverse house producers out there, with offerings for dekmantel, syncrophone recordings and tanstaafl planets. joey remodels drum vortex into an old style warehouse dub, rolling congas and snares with incessant synth stabs and bending strings, making up for one serious remix from mr. anderson. another interpretation is on offer from markus suckut, whose techno prowess has shone for labels like rekids, be as one, mosaic and his own exile label (run with johannes heil)

escapism, the berlin party series, steps over the threshold into label territory after putting on quality techno nights in the german capital for more than two and a half years. kicking off the label is the polish born and berlin-based glos, who is well known for his work on ressort imprint. on prayers three original tracks showcase his love for ambient music, as well as intelligent techno and sound design. belgian newcomer border one (wolfskuil, stockholm ltd) is in charge of remix duties, taking the slow churning groove of collapse and transforming it into dance floor focused material.

earlier this year, dekmantel announced the signing of robert hood for a new project titled paradygm shift. over the course of three different eps, which will eventually evolve into an album, the detroit but now alabama based legend presents paradygm shift. hood: -the idea behind paradygm shift is similar to a shift in our focus. we can become so complacent, we are so comfortable with our surroundings, i think this is the time for electronic music to find a new mindset volume ii serves up two more killer techno floor bombs by the never disappointing originator. master jack is a classy and deadly effective cut that gets its strength from a simple, yet biting stack of funky chords, while pulsating bass lines and rattling hats are holding it together. more fast-paced action can be found on magnet,a no-nonsense, minimalist stomper you can store in your peak-time section. refined techno action times two, but what did you expect?

it is the year 2016, and the easy money remix series is even more back than it was last year! the outside agency - in their still ongoing quest to obtain the most speedboats - have sourced yet another batch of remixes from their friends for the highly anticipated follow-up to 2015 s easy money remix ep 2. deathmachine, detest and fracture 4 are the next three artists to deliver their undoubtedly smashing renditions of their favourite tracks by the outside agency. the deathmachine remix is epically epic (and 9 minutes long), the detest remix is lightning fast and the fracture 4 remix is depressingly slow. again, highly recommend by speedboat salesmen everywhere!

golden parachutes is a unique, collaborative musical effort comprised of stewart walker (us/berlin) and touane (italy/berlin). following five years of collaborative live-performances and techno releases through stewart’s persona records imprint, here the duo has decided to co-mingle their influences from afrobeat and progressive jazz into a boundary-free exploration. liberated from the constraints of repetitive, pounding kick drums, they unveil a new sound of timbral fluidity built-up from live and sequenced instruments. more than just music, their innovative approach delivers 43 minutes of consummate aural landscapes that pull the listener in head first. as the title ‘into the dark grey morning’ suggests the album takes you on a sweet atmospheric journey where melodic washes of colour and light flicker illumination into the dark clouds of monochromatic noise and reverb compositions, evoking fresh beginnings in electronic music... like a light at the end of the tunnel. as level records third long-play release, ‘into the dark grey morning’ is an unexpected turn away from the labels normal tendencies. with it’s live-instrumental melodies layered over sweeping electronic backdrops the album dips deeply into progressive rock waters and surfaces with a contemporary krautrock sound, logically delivered by a label from düsseldorf, the birthplace of krautrock music.

after a sell out first ep on optimo music, mr tc follows it up with ep 2, surf & destroy four more tracks of analogue plus live instruments delirium. mr tc has been taking his live show (which involves a four-piece band) out on the road to great acclaim. his music and dj sets encompass leftfield disco, tropical oddity, house and techno whilst channelling the spirit of a youth spent playing in psychedelic rock bands in luxembourg, listening to krautrock and worshipping lou reed and david bowie. this is just the beginning

that night, we answered a regular call, something about crazy loud noises coming out from a basement. while driving to the area all i could think when i first heard the bass stomping was: “man, whatever, this doesn t even sound like music to me.” and we were at least a 100 meter away from the source of the sound. when we got there, after knocking several times on the door, we decided we had more than enough probable causes to bust in. after a warning, we kicked the door open. what we saw inside was a five feet tall woman jumping around in that cacophony. we screamed and she ignored us, my colleague then panicked and shot her with his taser several times – she then simply pulled the probes out of her body shouting moments moments – and continued to jump around..

stellar new artists to join our tight knit family. first we invite mariano mateljan with whowhatwhere, his raw minimalistic analog sound really shines through with a swinging percussive bass line, echoing vox and splashes of pads to set the mood. now moving into more techno territory with our beloved mastering guru gabriele carasco with his slow burner theory of flow, has just the right amount of acid to take you on hypnotic journey through the lab. no introduction is needed for one of sol asylum’s core members miss jools. this time around creating a deep and moody vibe with what you do she adds touches of vocals, an elaborate construction and glistening pads that finishes it off flawlessly. last but not least, we introduce markus sommer with san beneghetto. his skills and mature taste blew us away regardless of his youthful years. this garage-fueled track with gliding synths and jazzy bass lines is the perfect track to warm up your summer day

fresh blood on robsoul and more sunshine fueled house for the summer floors from rising stars iban montoro and jazzman wax. its been a busy year for the duo, who have not only launched their own moodyhouse recordings label, but also completed and signed their debut album to mark farina’s great lakes audio imprint. an ep for kerri chandler’s madhouse records and projects in the works with barbara tucker and joi cardwell are all setting 2016 up to be a busy and bumper year for the boys from barcelona. their rock skate ep for robsoul is a perfect snapshot of the sample-heavy feel good-vibe vibe that the boys present in their own performances. four block rocking cuts that will have us grooving, grinding and rolling. so lace up and get dancing.

after the nuclear arms test that was the brain poacher black label, canary islands resident gilmer galibard returns to the lobster family via lucid, murky sub-label mörk. taking a much more languid and contemplative approach to his followup, “lost tapes” finds itself washed ashore on a waves of warm, translucent, salt-infused techno and house.

with the release of their last album “smoke” (2013) dapayk & padberg moved to a listening oriented direction, that also works perfectly off the dance floor. the new single “sink this ship” underlines their decision to follow this path in the future … maybe even with their upcoming album “harbour” later this year. on “sink this ship” eva padberg unfolds her matured voice, which shows more confidence than on previous records. dapayk skillfully puts her voice in a common scenery, where the straight beats are long over and where is space for extravagances and inventiveness. however, this is not a radical change turning away from the club sound. two of the most sought-after remixer artists at the moment, robot koch and bebetta, ensure the suitability for the dance floor. robot koch skillfully disassembles (for which he is known) the original. primarily he builds his version on the emotional base of eva’s vocal part and dapayk’s warm bass line. however, on the flip side, there is almost a contrasting change. the slight melancholy of the original track gives way for a typical bebetta techhouse beat, that flows through the club in a dreamy, yet simply irresistible manner.
